Downtown Disney (Florida)

It’s not long now until the doors open on Downtown Disney’s latest restaurant addition: the T-Rex. Visitors will be able to go on an adventure back to prehistoric times and dine among the dinosaurs at this new restaurant dubbed A Prehistoric Family Adventure.

Schussler Creative Chairman Steve Schussler, the founder of Rainforest Cafe and the T-Rex restaurant, depicts the experience as “edutainment,” noting that this “treat for all five senses” includes artifacts such as fossils that are hundreds of millions of years old, carefully crafted animatronic dinosaurs, and even a meteorite found in Argentina.

Guests will enter the restaurant by passing under a full-size skeleton replica of an Argentinosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Inside you’ll see more life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, cascading waterfalls and a fossil dig site.
Of course the prehistoric theme extends to the menu, which features items with names such as Caesarsaurus (Caesar salad), Raptor Ribs (Asian BBQ ribs), Pterodactyl Wings (Buffalo chicken wings), Triassic Tortellini (tri-colored cheese tortellini) and Gigantosaurus Burger (a really big hamburger!).

Menu choices range from starters (appetizers, salads and soups) to pastas, burgers and sandwiches to a broad selection of entrees plus desserts. Some favorites include rotisserie chicken, fried shrimp, steaks and ribs, tarragon chicken salad sandwich, Cobb salad and “Chocolate Extinction.”

This beastly addition to Downtown Disney is bound to be popular with adults and kids alike so be sure to call ahead and make reservations on 407/WDW-DINE to avoid disappointment.
