To celebrate the start of the summer holidays, Disney Cinemagic sent 10 skilled artists down to Blackpool Beach to create a record-breaking piece of beach art.

The team started work at 4.30am to create a 40,000 square foot picture of Monsters Inc character Sulley. The finished picture was the equivalent of three Olympic sized swimming pools before it was swallowed by the tide at just 10.45am.

John Lundberg from Disney Cinemagic’s team of artists said: “This was a monster challenge for the team - it was a big picture with a huge amount of detail required and it was a tight time frame, but we’re delighted that we did it!”

Councillor Mary Smith, the Mayor of Blackpool, said: “We were delighted that Disney Cinemagic chose Blackpool Beach for this ambitious stunt. As families flocked to the sands today we hope they enjoyed the spectacle of the giant picture being created.”

As well as Monsters Inc, the Disney Cinemagic Channel will be screening a string of family favourites as part of their Monster Summer of Movies.
