From the summit of Space Mountain to the watery confines of the Pirates of the Caribbean, Google Earth invites users to explore the Walt Disney World Resort.
Users of Google Earth can now experience a three-dimensional model of the entire Walt Disney World Resort. Eight photographers worked for 10 days to shoot all of the visible surfaces of the Disney World Resort so that users can tour all four of the theme parks as well as the numerous hotels. A total of 100,000 photos were taken and these became the base of some 1,500 3D models that populate the virtual tour.
“Guests and travel planners can now explore our world with just a few clicks of a mouse, and they can book vacations while being immersed in what the destination has to offer,” says Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
The models will be linked to Disney’s online tools for planning travel and vacations - users can get started by visiting www.disneyworld.com/3dparks.
