After the disappointing Anne of Windy Willows, I was slightly reticent to pick this one up — but Montgomery has returned to form — as Anne and Gilbert’s relationship blossoms we are introduced to more delightful characters who make up a charming and heart-warming tale

I’m working my way through the whole series of Anne books by L.M. Montgomery and I was ready for another Anne and Gilbert fix. I have high hopes for this book following the disappointment of Anne of Windy Willows.

I think that as a stand-alone ‘chronicles’ this book should be appreciated - but for a reader who yearns for tales of Anne and her loved ones it left me wanting.

Anne of Windy Willows sees Anne take up a new post as Principal of Summerside High School where she must outface the dreaded Pringle clan. I’m looking forward to the budding romance between Anne and the handsome Gilbert Blythe *sigh*
