Despite the very un-summer like weather outside apparently Spring is over - well the Spring Reading challenge is anyway! Here’s my recap…

This book has all of the hallmarks of an action-packed novel; conspiracies, shootouts, double-crosses and car chases - throw in religious unrest and a presidential election and you’ll find yourself caught up in an exciting tale that also forces you to think about the way we live our lives and whether we are killing the planet with our actions.

Gaiman does a fantastic job of introducing characters and entwining sub plots; drawing you into the mythical land of Faerie and carrying you on a delicious journey through deep woods and dark caves as Tristran searches for the fallen star that will bring him his heart’s desire.

Hale has woven a magical fairytale, with believable characters and such spell-binding descriptions that there were times I would look up from the book and be surprised to find that I wasn’t standing on a cobbled street surrounded by geese!

Girls, meet Waverly Bryson, an almost 30 something with high expectations of how life and love should be. The novel opens with Waverly being jilted by her perfect fiance just two weeks before her perfect wedding, from there we are thrown into Waverly’s life - from her job in sports PR, to her relationships with her best friends Andie and McKenna, and her search for Mr Right - which involves many cringe-worthy yet entertaining dates.

I could review this book in just one word: wow. It’s exquisite, breath-taking, thought-provoking, sentimental, heart-warming - do I sound like a cliche? I mean every single word!
