Sunday Salon | Go Gothic with Northanger Abbey

I’ve never been a fan of Jane Austin; I tried to read Pride & Prejudice a few years back and couldn’t get past the first few chapters. But she’s one of those authors that readers rave about so when I found out that Austenprose was hosting a Go Gothic with Northanger Abbey read along group I decided to give it a go!

Cathy’s Book isn’t your usual ‘words on a page’ kind of book; it’s presented as a journal documenting Cathy’s detective adventures - complete with doodles and illustrations. In among the story are telephone numbers you can call to pick up messages about the characters, websites to visit and IM conversations.

After the disappointing Anne of Windy Willows, I was slightly reticent to pick this one up — but Montgomery has returned to form — as Anne and Gilbert’s relationship blossoms we are introduced to more delightful characters who make up a charming and heart-warming tale
