Sunday Salon | Book blowout prep and some unexpected reading time

Morning Saloners - I hope the weather is nicer with you than it is here - grey clouds and quite chilly
We had big plans today to visit a medieval extravaganza at a Welsh Castle but alas my friend has hurt her foot and cannot walk - so I have some unexpected free time in which to crack on with The Girl Who Stopped Swimming. I’ve heard so many good things about this book but so far it hasn’t really pulled me in to the extent that I can’t stop reading it. Perhaps I’m just in a book lull after racing through so many books - or maybe it just needs some dedicated time to really get into it. I was really hoping to finish it by tomorrow so I can start July and the Book Blowout with a fresh book.
Speaking of the Book Blowout - I’ve just discovered some new tricks with Yahoo Pipes that have helped me build a big feed of feeds so that I can keep up with the participants during the Blowout.
How about you? Where are you escaping to with your book today - or do you have non-reading plans?

I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s foot — a medieval extravaganza in a Welsh castle sounds fabulous! — but it’s always nice to get some unexpected reading time, isn’t it.
I’m looking into Yahoo Pipes too. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think I’m havingthe same problem with my current read
It’s just not like me and I keep wondering if I should put it away… but I’m almost there so on I go!

Welsh Castle… soooo jealous! I’m in the middle of a Jane-a-thon (reading all the Austens straight through chronologically), and sneaking in The Boat by Nam Le when I can. The latter is a book of short stories about Vietnamese people who’ve left Vietnam to other parts of the world. I’m currently in the first story, and I love it. No non-reading plans, though.

Sorry about your friends foot! Welsh Castle… I’m so jelous.
It was cloudy and chilly and rainy here yesterday, too… ew. Pretty much everyday it’s rained once, which really stinks because my family farms and we can’t bale our hay!
But it means more reading time for me.
hope.
