Aside | Summer Reading Extravaganza Day 5: Oh the Places You’ll Go! With a Book!
Posted by: Clare Swindlehurst In: Asides| Summer Reading Extravaganza
Wow the week has sure gone fast - today is the final day of the Summer Reading Extravaganza and we’re talking about escaping with a book:
Our final topic is books that transport you. It’s hard to take a trip with rising gas prices so thank God we can travel through reading! What are some of your favorite books that transport you to a new place?
Avonlea…
I’ve just finished reading Anne of Green Gables and had a lovely time wandering down Lovers Lane and gazing at the Lake of Shining Waters. Avonlea is a wonderful place and one I’ll be escaping to for most of the summer as I work my way through the Montgomery series.
A fairytale castle…
One of my favourite books this year was Shannon Hale’s The Goose Girl - Hale’s writing is so descriptive that I really did find myself wondering down cobbled streets in the shadow of a castle - and would look up from my book with start when there was no sign of the geese or the castle walls!
Over to you…
Where does your favourite book take you? Share your book transportations in the comments - and then head over to the Extravaganza to see where everyone else escapes to in their books.
