Weekly Geeks | Photos Week
By Mrs S • Jun 8th, 2008 • Category: Challenges, Summer Reading, Summer Reading Thing, Weekly GeeksThis week Dew has challenged us all to post a photo - I figured since Blue Archipelago is all about books that it should be a photo of books - so I’m killing two birds with one stone and am posting the books I am planning to complete for the Summer Reading challenge (yep - I’m signing up for another one!)

Here’s my planned reading list:
- Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
- Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson
- Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
- Anne of the Island
- Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
- Something Blue by Emily Giffin
- The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell
- The God of Animals by Aryn Kyle
- Anne of Avonlea
- Little Women by L.M.Alcott
- Jemima J. by Jane Green
- The Secret of Lost Things by Sheridan Hay
- Anne of Windy Willows
- Anne’s House of Dream
*phew* that should keep me going between now and the end of August!
Conspicuous by their absence are the Anne books… I had them all when I was a kid… and don’t remember throwing them out/giving them away - but this WG challenge prompted me to find them - and I’ve looked on every book shelf (twice) and opened every single box in the attic (and there are lots of them) and nothing! So I’m heading to the Book Depository after this to purchase them again (of course they’re bound to turn up in a month or two when I’m looking for something else!).
ETA: I am going to use the same list of books for InkSplasher’s Summer Reading Thing Challenge.
Check out fellow Weekly Geek Melissa - who posted pictures of her kids playing in the sprinklers - it’s been hot and sunny here today and that looks like a fun way to cool down!

I’m currently reading Anne of Green Gables for the first time and I like it so much so far that I definitely see myself continuing with the series. Never Let me Go is another one I really want to read.

What a wonderful reading list! Of the titles I’ve read, I’ve enjoyed all (except the Vanishing Act). I wish I wasn’t feeling a bit overwhelmed right now, otherwise I would love to relive my love of Anne!!
How do you do that fancy framing? Is that a digital scrapbooking technique? I love it!
I am really into Never Let Me Go! Be sure to visit me when you review it and I will link you up! Great list and I, too, thought you were going to say something about scrapbooking. What a creative display.

What a great pile of books you have ahead of you, Clare! I am rereading Anne now as well and I am enjoying it so much! I can see myself going through the entire series again if I can get my hand on them.

Hey y’all - good to hear positive things about the books on the pile. I ordered the missing Anne books so hopefully they’ll be here by the weekend - I’m reading Before Green Gables and it’s really good and has me needing a fix of the real thing!
Dew - the photo is embellished with some of my digi scrap goodies - I couldn’t help it!
Trish - yay to exchanging notes - I’m reading it for my book club - I’ve heard lots of good things so hope I’ll enjoy it
I’ve read Jemima J by Jane Green and enjoyed it. I like Green’s books and Jemima J was a good one. Enjoy!
Cute scrapbook page. I would like to read Never Let Me Go. I’m looking forward to your review.
Thanks for joining the 2008 Summer Reading Thing. That’s a great list. I’ve read the first Anne book, but that’s all. Good luck on your reading.
