5 stars - looking forward to the next instalment
Description
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning…
Review
New Moon is the second book in a trilogy and follows smoothly on from where the first book {twilight} left off.
The book focuses on Bella as she tries to come to terms with the loss of her relationship with Edward, and how she finds strength in a new friendship with Jacob Black. Meyer manages to tie themes of relationship issues in with vampires and werewolves as seemlessly here as in the first book.
Jacob was my favourite character - and when it became easy to see a love triangle developing I was definitely rooting for him!
The book moves along at a swift pace and sweeps you along with it to the extent that it becomes completely believable that these fantasical characters exist - although I was slightly put out by the group of tourists who were destined to become thirst quenchers!
All in all it’s a very enjoyable and easy read - and it’s Young Adult status shouldn’t put off any older readers. I’ve moved onto the third book in the series already!

I am currently reading the first book in the series due to your recommendation…I am already 1/4 through the book after just a few hours. I am quite enjoying it!!
Glad you’re enjoying it Kristine :0)
hi
im just wondering when does edward come back into the story because i want to keep reading but i like the book lots more when im reading about edward
so really all i wanted to ask is when dose he come back into the story?
so what’s the setting of the book?
@lauren - Edward returns near the end of the book - so you’ll have to keep reading - it’s worth the wait though. He features all of the way through the third book too so you won’t have any problems with that one :0)
@Katty - The novels are all set in a small town in America - and follow Bella while at High School - the setting changes though from school to home to the forest - and even heads to Italy for a time!
I am a fan of Meyer’s and really enjoy this series. I can hardly wait for the movie!
I thought as I was reading the books that a movie would be quite good - I’ll definitely be heading out to watch that at the cinema :0)
I read all 3 books the minute my books arrived at my house within 3 days! I was so hooked on it and im glad i read it! i cried a little in eclipse (how pathetic) i wondered if you cried too?! or maybe its just me lol
i can’t wait til midnight sun, breaking daawn and the movie to come out! do you know exactly when the movie is coming out? some say in 2010! (i hope not bc thats the year i graduate high school and it’ll be too long!!!) but then i heard its coming out on dec 2008! i hope so bc thats near my brithday!!
Hi Julie - I’m glad you enjoyed the books too - I didn’t realise there were two more coming - though it was just one! I admit to being a little misty eyed at points during one of the books - but can’t for the life of me remember which one!
I just did some google searching and found this link suggesting a release date of December 12 - which I assume is Stateside:

I loved New Moon and Jacob quickly became a favourite character. Much as I loved Edward I just find Jacob more interesting.

Hi Alix - I have to agree with you - Jacob is the most interesting character and was my favourite too. I was a big fan of Dawson’s Creek as a kid and would pick Pacey over Dawson any day… I think Jacob is my Pacey *lol*
Wow
A great, great book. It was sooo sad when Edward left poor Bella in the forest. I cried, seems pathetic right? But it’s alright. Anyways, I’m really into this book and looking forward to buy the third. I will pretty soon.
Does anyone know the release date of “Twilight”? I was thinking that I wanted them to make a movie and then Voila! I find out that they were making one. But I’m kind of afraid that when I watch the movie it might ruin the perception of the character, example, Edward, as when I read the new books I might see this character in the movie, rather then my minds eye of how he looks.
But anyways, I am excited for the movie and I think that New Moon is a great, great book! The centre chunk about Jacob was intresting and when Edward returned I was very happy! I love the connection between Bella and Edward, it just makes me so happy even though this is only a fiction novel! Hope anyone who hasn’t read it enjoys!

I did not really like this book actually. Preferred Twilight! I haven’t read Eclipse yet…need to get that book soon. =)
And yeah, Jacob is a fine character. Bella is lucky/unlucky to have two guys after her!

I have recently finished reading Twilight, and was very enthusiastic about reading the sequel. I am about 200 pages in and am starting to wonder if anything will ever start to pick up speed again. Bella really needs to stop feeling sorry for herself… so if someone could let me know if it is worth the wait that would be great.

I am really disappointed in this book! The author basically repeated Twilight, but using Jacob as a werewolf. It’s too bad, had a lot of potential.
